Nov. 7. A rezoning that would permit the construction of 48 luxury condominiums behind Goodwill is on the Cornelius Town Board agenda for tonight.
Prices for the proposed condos will start in the $700,000 range, said developer Jamie Rolewicz, with each of the units running about 3,000 square feet. “Right now, there is nothing in the luxury high end market in Cornelius. We want to change that so people can downsize without downgrading.”
He has built close to 50 high-end homes, as well as 500,000 square feet of medical office and industrial products with business partner Kevin Mahl. Together they own Champion Tire.
The first floor/ground level will include parking underneath, which will be covered by a green roof between the five buildings. The central building will contain a clubhouse/meeting space, and eight luxury condo units (two per floor). The other four buildings will contain ten units each.
The town planning board has recommended approval providing that the developer agrees with eight specific elements adopted at their September meeting.
Also at Monday’s meeting, the commissioners are expected to consider the adoption of a salary compensation plan which would result in bringing a significant number of salaried positions in the town up to more competitive standards. The meeting begins at 7 pm in the Board Meeting Room at Town Hall on Catawba Avenue.
