Foxcroft Food & Wine Closing Doors

Foxcroft Food & Wine is closing its Birkdale location after a little more than two years of operation.

“It’s with a heavy heart that we share the difficult decision to close the doors at Foxcroft Birkdale,” the company said in a statement that offered no further details on the decision.

The restaurant and wine bar will maintain its regular operating hours through its final day Oct. 10.

“We’ll also be holding our final tasting that day, and we’d love for you to stop by, enjoy a glass of wine, and celebrate Foxcroft Birkdale with our team one last time.”

The popular Charlotte wine bar — with locations in SouthPark, Dilworth and Waverly — opened to much fanfare in June 2024 in the space previously occupied by Brixx Pizza.

Its opening, following an extensive upfit that was delayed about a year, came two years after then-Birkdale owner North American Properties was in the process of overhauling the village’s tenant mix. The changes included the loss of Corkscrew, a wine bar that had operated in the space across the green from Foxcroft for 18 years.

Foxcroft closed its Raleigh location last month after being open for a year and a half, and its Greenville, South Carolina, location last year after operating for eight years.

Birkdale is now owned and managed by Hines.

Alas, their food was limited and not very good. It’s hard to carry the place based on wine alone.
