Weekender March 3-5: Farmers market, concerts, Mooresville birthday, Purim carnival

Davidson Farmers Market

9 am – noon | March 4.  Winter Market. No pets. Downtown Davidson.

Beer School 101

1-2:30 pm | March 4. David “DG” Gonzalez, a 26-year industry veteran, will instruct attendees on the brewing process, brewing ingredients and more. Attendees will be led through a guided tasting and be giving a tour of the brewing facilities. $35. Sign up online. Lost Worlds Brewing, 19700-D One Norman Blvd., Cornelius.

DJ Saturdays

7:30-10:30 pm | March 4. CJ Big C. Thigs Cocktails LKN, 21234 Catawba Ave., Cornelius.

Ghost Hunt

6:30-9:30 pm | March 4. Take part in an authentic ghost hunt of the building and grounds (weather permitting)  led by members of the Charlotte Area Paranormal Society. Limited to 18 guests, 12 and older. Tickets $25. Hugh Torance House & Store, 8231 Gilead Rd., Huntersville.

Martin Sexton

Doors open 6:30 pm, show 8 pm | March 4. His songs have appeared in television series such as Scrubs, Parenthood, Masters of Sex and in numerous films, though it’s his incendiary live show, honest lyrics and vocal prowess that keep fans coming back for more. Tickets $45 – $65. Cain Center For The Arts.

Mooresville Birthday Festival

Noon- 4 pm | March 4. Activities include rides, simulators, bounce houses, trackless train, gem mining, Enchanted Garden, rock climbing, balloon animals & face painting, photo booths, food trucks and breweries, street performers, gaming area, stage area, contests, birthday cake walk and a school mascot dance competition. Downtown Mooresville.

Sunday, March 5

Purim Carnival

9:30 am – noon. | March 5. The Jewish Council of Lake Norman and Temple Kol Tikvah’s youth group host the  annual Purim Carnival. The theme is Harry Potter. All are welcome to  celebrate Purim. Come dressed in costume and have fun making crafts, playing games like  Quidditch Relay Race, Potion Making, Bounce House and more. $8 per child. Purim is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the saving of the Jewish people from Haman, who was planning to have all of Persia’s Jewish subjects killed, as recounted in the Book of Esther. Temple Kol Tikvah, 605 South St., Davidson.

Dog Adoption event

Noon | March 5. Billie’s Buddies animal rescue. Lost Worlds Brewing, 19700-D One Norman Blvd., Cornelius.

House and Store Guided Tour

1:15 and 3 pm | Sundays. Step back in time to 1779 and explore the Hugh Torance House and Store. There is no fee, but donations are welcome. Cedar Grove and the Hugh Torance House and Store, 8231 Gilead Rd., Huntersville.
