Who is eligible for Group 4?

March 19. While demand still exceeds supply for the vaccine, including Group 4, you can get appointments. Besides mass vaccination events, drug outlets like CVS and Walgreen’s are offering appointments. Be sure to check out Publix and Harris Teeter; some pharmacies within the Charlotte region have the vaccines.

Vaccinefinder, a collaborative centralized portal, can also help.

The NC Dept. of Health and Human Services says these conditions qualify for Group 4:

•Asthma (moderate to severe)

•Cancer

•Cerebrovascular disease or history of stroke

•Chronic kidney disease

•Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

•Cystic fibrosis

•Diabetes Type 1 or 2

•A heart condition such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathy

•Hypertension or high blood pressure

•Immune deficiencies, HIV, taking chronic steroids or other immune weakening medicines

•Intellectual and developmental disabilities, including Down syndrome

•Liver disease, including hepatitis

•Neurologic conditions, such as dementia and schizophrenia

•Pulmonary fibrosis

•Overweight or obesity

•Pregnancy

•Sickle cell disease or thalassemia

•Smoking (current or former)
