The Huntersville Town Tree Lighting

6-9 pm | Dec. 1. light the tree at 6:30 p.m. There will be something for everyone; rides, food and beverage vendors, 50+ craft vendors, Santa and a very special performance by Maddie Poppe, season 16 winner of American Idol. Nativity Art Exhibit

As a part of Christmas in Davidson and a new Advent Festival, an exhibit of nativity sets and artwork that reflect how different people and cultures interpret the Nativity. Saturday, Dec. 2

North Mecklenburg Parade

1 pm | Dec. 2. The parade route follows Main Street (Hwy. 115) from Davidson through Cornelius and ends at the intersection of North Main Street and Catawba Ave in Cornelius. it is approximately 2 miles.

Holiday Concert

10 am | Dec. 2. The North Mecklenburg Community Chorus will present a free concert. A tree lighting and refreshments follow. Northern Regional Recreation Center, 8121 Old Statesville Rd., Cornelius.

A Huntersville Christmas 

3-8 pm | Dec. 2. A reveal of the town’s 150th anniversary time capsule. Activities will include free children’s rides, Artisan Ice Sculptures, holiday performances on stage from a variety of local groups, Carolers of Christmas Past, glitter tattoos, balloon twisters, roaming holiday characters, letters and pictures with Santa, and more.  Shop with 50+ local vendors.  Veterans Park, 201 Huntersville-Concord Rd., downtown Huntersville. Breakfast with Santa

8:15 – 9:15 am or 9:30 – 10:30 am | Dec 2. Tickets required and go on sale Nov. 2. Join Santa and his cheerful elves for a buffet-style breakfast.Ticket proceeds will benefit Seasons of Giving, a nonprofit that assists individuals who live alone rediscover the joy of social interaction through their participation in their program. Christmas Boat Parade

6-9 pm | Dec.  2. Head to the waterfront at Lake Norman Yacht Club to see and cheer on the brightly illuminated boats and sailboats bedecked in their finest holiday décor. Bring an unwrapped new toy for the parade’s benefit for Toys for Tots – collection box at the yacht club, 297 Yacht Rd., Mooresville.

The Chinese Lady

Check website for times | Nov. 30 – Dec. 2. Based on a true story, Suh’s dark and poetic play explores the life of Afong Moy, the first documented Chinese woman to set foot on U.S. soil. Afong Moy was brought to America in 1834 to be put on display for a paying public who were mesmerized by her differences. For the next half-century, she performed across the Eastern United States for curious white people, showing them how she ate, what she wore, and the highlight of the event; how she walked with her tiny bound feet. Ages 14 and older. $25-$45. Cain Center For The Arts, Cornelius.

Breakfast With Santa

8:30 am (9:45 am sold out) | Dec. 2. Every table with children must be accompanied by an adult; table capacity is 6 people.  $26 age 13 and older; $21 age 2-12; younger than 2 free. Santa Paws in the Park

House and Store Guided tour & Hanging of the Greens

Christmas Vespers

7-8:30 pm | Dec. 3. Annual Vespers service of lessons and carols is a time-honored tradition. The traditional candlelight worship service features choral music and scripture readings by campus leaders reflecting upon the hope and promise of Christ’s birth in the Christmas season. A Doll’s House: Part 2

In the 1879 debut of Henrik Ibsen’s iconic A Doll’s House, Nora Helmer shocked audiences with her infamous “door slam heard around the world,” a bold decision that terminated her relationships with her husband and children but created space for a budding relationship with herself. Huntersville Half Marathon & Holiday 5k

7 pm Dec. 8 and 8 am Dec. 9. The Huntersville Holiday 5k will start Friday at 7 pm, while the Huntersville Half Marathon & 10k will begin on Saturday at 8 am in Birkdale Village. All runners will receive a medal upon finishing, and Fleet Feet Sports will present cash prizes to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in both races. The Huntersville Half Marathon & 5k is also working in partnership with Speed for Need, a non-profit focused on empowering community members affected by disability or disease through participation in fitness events. A portion of the proceeds from the event will go toward supporting Speed for Need in their efforts.

First Footin’

10 am – 1 pm | Jan. 1. Celebrate Hogmanay, a Scottish New Year’s celebration steeped in centuries of rich history. The event is free to attend, but registration is required, and donations are encouraged. Guests can enjoy a warm bowl of vegetable soup catered by Savory Moments and are invited to bring canned goods to donate to Caterpillar Ministries, a local non-profit organization that helps those in need in our community. You can also bring a picnic lunch to enjoy with your friends and family. The Loch Norman Highland Games and Scottish Festival

Tickets and a new life patron program are on sale now; $30-$3,000. This is a traditional Scottish festival that takes place annually at Historic Rural Hill, Huntersville. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the event. Visitors can enjoy traditional Scottish music and dance performances, as well as athletic competitions such as caber tossing, hammer throwing, and tug-of-war.
