    Who was arrested?

    • Joe April 19, 2022 at 5:12 pm

Way too many fire arms on the street

For self defense at home, why are all these guns on the street?

      • Dave Volk April 20, 2022 at 7:39 am

Why are there so many criminals on the street?

        • Mia April 22, 2022 at 10:23 am

There will always some criminals, that is human nature, but when given such easy access to guns it makes it much easier for those criminals actions to be much more brazen, dangerous and in many cases deadly. It also lends itself to more crime and criminals on the street in general. When a criminal is given the same fighting power ( gun access) as police officers, they become more bold.

You do know that criminals do not abide by the law, so why would they follow more strict gun laws? That’s why they are called criminals.

If we hold their parents responsible this will slowly stop.

Well, Self defense doesn’t just happen at home, incidents like this only reinforce the fact that people need to protect themselves with concealed carry firearms …at home, or at Food Lion. As the article said, he was charged with illegally concealing a gun. That’s against the law, thus his arrest.

      • Rasputin April 20, 2022 at 2:51 pm

They were probably stolen from someone.

      • Karen Asche April 21, 2022 at 9:44 am

Gun culture has a price. Better pray it’s not someone you love. If you’re not safe across the street from the police department and next door to the town hall, where are you safe?

      • william kearnes April 21, 2022 at 4:31 pm

Well , if one of them DIDN’T have a gun then he would most likely have been shot and killed. I’m pretty sure the older guy had a CC permit to protect himself like we all should.

        • Mia April 22, 2022 at 10:27 am

You have no idea what took place here, the article says nothing. Just that shots were fired we have no idea of their relationship or what occurred. No clue if either had any kind of cc permit at all. You have no idea.

    • Karen Asche April 21, 2022 at 9:48 am

The idea that it is a certain type of person who pulls a gun is nonsense. Nuns have bad hair days. Thankfully they aren’t armed. The idea that guns don’t hurt people, people hurt people is a pitiful excuse. Guns + people = dead & injured. Basic math.

      • Mia April 22, 2022 at 10:29 am

Exactly. If i am a really pissed bitter angry person and i have access to a gun bs no access of
Course having access will most likely lead me to injure or kill

This is so hard to read…and where are the background checks and when will people realize that enough is enough!!
Thankfully, no one was hurt or killed.

    • Karen Asche April 21, 2022 at 9:56 am

Lots of bad attitude here. Guns don’t help people. If you own one your family is 20 less safe. The rate of domestic abuse is a clue that guns are not a good idea. Want to be a tough soldier? Join the military. In the USA the rate of guns involved in violence is 79%. In Great Britain it’s 4% with strict gun laws. Guess which country looks stupid. People make $ off gun culture. Stop being suckers.

This is not accurate. Let’s not perpetuate the spread of false information.

  3. Pat April 20, 2022 at 10:59 am

They never want to try and settle it by talking it out. Always want to be the first one to pull out a gun to show how stupid you are. Obviously I have no sympathy for these type of people. None. Before anyone says anything let me make it clear that I don’t mean black people. I mean stupid cowards who just want to pull out a gun and start shooting with no regards to anyone else who might get hurt or even worse killed. Animals like that belong in cages.

  4. Paula April 20, 2022 at 12:41 pm

    Are they from Cornelius ?

  5. Brad April 20, 2022 at 1:13 pm

Criminals do not care about gun laws or get checked. Law abiding citizens don’t do this. Criminals will use any weapon they can obtain, gun, knife, car or what have you. You wanna stop gun violence? Bring back the Nuclear family. Don’t try and take away guns from people that respect the consequences.

    • Deanna April 20, 2022 at 1:37 pm

Brad what’s the “Nuclear Family ?”
Nobody wants to take guns away from law abiding citizens. 95% of Americans want stricter gun laws even gun owners. Too many guns in this country period.

      • Ryan Oglesby April 20, 2022 at 2:02 pm

That’s absolutely false that democrats don’t want to take away guns. They have been caught on hot Mics saying that they want to. Dianne Feinstein for one. So, that is why when this comes up, no one listens anymore. It’s because they know that’s a lie, they do want guns taken away.

      • Rasputin April 20, 2022 at 2:49 pm

When stating statistics, please try to be accurate. 95% is an exaggeration driven by your own emotion, not facts. Gallup shows 67% as of Oct 21, not 95%. Also, as a gun owners, I have NEVER been polled and doubt seriously if large numbers of gun owners have ever been polled either. Polls typically screen for the responders so as to get the responses that are politically expedient. (Forced exaggeration to gain power, sort of what YOU want)

        • Deanna April 21, 2022 at 8:44 am

Their are a lot of different law suggestions and statistics out there that people are referring to. As you quoted from what you read it’s still the majority of people that want stricter gun laws. I know this state has a gun loving culture, but not everyone feels the same. We can all agree that something needs to be done.

  6. John April 20, 2022 at 1:59 pm

I don’t want any new “gun laws” I want criminal control laws enforced. Bet these two fools were right back on the street that afternoon.

    • Bill Ress April 20, 2022 at 2:26 pm

We really need at least one new gun law: original owner responsibility. When you purchase a gun, you should be responsible for it until you dispose of it legally. Many, if not most, street crimes are committed with a stolen gun. Owners must be held responsible for their guns.

      • S April 20, 2022 at 8:45 pm

Let’s look at this logically. If someone breaks into your house and steals the gun or breaks into your vehicle and is able to break into a locked glove compartment or gun safe and takes your gun then that really can’t be the fault of the owner. If you answer is, don’t put a gun in your vehicle, well this situation, shots fired at a grocery store, is exactly why people have them in their cars.

        • ERC April 20, 2022 at 9:20 pm

The point of Original Owner Laws that he was making, was that there should be liability on that owner until the gun is de-registered out of the original owners name. So in the example of a gun being stolen out of the home, the owner would report that crime and that particular gun would go into a database of missing guns. But the owner would not be liable. An Original Owner Law in no way threatens anyone’s 2A Rights. It’s simply about accountability. All of these guns on the streets were bought by someone originally.

  7. Stevie April 20, 2022 at 2:16 pm

Did these guys shoot at each other? Then leave the scene in the same car? If so, they should’ve just got some boxing gloves and handled it at home. No need giving the Cornelius Food Lion a bad reputation!

We are from Vermont with some of the most lenient gun laws in the country. It is also one of the safest states in the country. But those who may consider committing these crimes think twice when they know people will defend themselves and their family with a firearm.

    • Deanna April 21, 2022 at 8:48 am

We have more gun owners in this country than ever , it hasn’t made us safer.. More guns obviously do not deter criminals , domestic abuse or mass shootings. We have more violence than ever in this country.

  9. John Bost III April 21, 2022 at 11:54 am

One thing that is prevalent are stolen guns. Stories like this stink. Probably wasn’t registered, or could’ve been a stolen gun. Law abiding gun owners don’t just pull out and start shooting. Legal gun owners know the last thing to be done is pull out your gun unless your life is in danger. Whose to say it wasn’t, but don’t attack the freedom law abiding citizens are allowed to have and use responsibly.

You belong in a cage for your Racist Comment and Yes you meant black people!!!

  11. Karen April 22, 2022 at 9:56 pm

Interesting that all pro-gun responses were from men, whereas anti-gun responses were from men & women. That tells you something about how the need for a gun is perceived, even in a community that has a gun culture. And no, I did not already say that.
