PTA leader plans to run for CMS District 1 seat

Feb. 17. Connie Cabbs, who has served as the Mecklenburg County PTA president for two years as well as three terms on the North Carolina PTA board, plans to run for the District 1 Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools board seat currently held by Rhonda Cheek.

Cabbs, a real estate broker, has also been the Federal Legislative Chair and Advocacy Chair for NC PTA.

“I am a proud CMS graduate, mother of three CMS graduates, grandmother, and wife of 20 years,” said Cabbs, who lives in Highland Creek.

Cheek, who has previously said she will not seek re-election, may do so. It’s still early in the process; candidate filing has not opened.

Cabbs said she is a passionate and dedicated leader.

“I care about our community. I am compassionate about the concerns our families and educators face when making the best decisions in educating children,” Cabbs said.
