The 3rd Annual Pounding For Parker Foundation Golf Tournament will be held June 3 at NorthStone Country Club. The fundraiser is dedicated to increasing awareness and funding for brain tumor research and improving the quality of life of survivors,
The Foundation, created by Allison and Jon Cowherd, recently gifted Levine Children’s Hospital with $100,000. The tournament is in its third year and has a reputation as a fun day with cash prizes, complimentary lunch and drinks, and an awards ceremony.
The Cowherd’s son, Parker, has an extremely rare cancer that has spread down his spine and up into his lower brain. The family lives in the Weatherstone neighborhood off Washam-Potts. Allison’s father is Carl Yost, the former pastor at Community in Christ Lutheran Church.
Brain tumors are the most common cancer occurring among those age 0-14, and the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in children age 0-14.
