COVID update: Much lower case volume and hospitalizations, but 2 more deaths in Huntersville

Feb. 22. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services today reported 2,215 people hospitalized statewide due to COVID. The NCDHHS also reported two more COVID-related deaths in Huntersville. There was also a new death attributed to COVID yesterday in Huntersville.

Today’s new case volume was 1,716, less than 5 percent of the daily case volume recorded one month ago on Jan. 21.

Deaths

There were 59 new deaths statewide.

Mecklenburg (change from Monday)

There were 320 new COVID cases reported countywide and 3 new deaths, including the two new deaths in Huntersville.

North Mecklenburg (change from Monday)

• Cornelius: 8 new cases, 6,647 cumulative total, 34 deaths cumulative total.

• Davidson: 1 new cases, 4,023 cumulative total, 21 deaths cumulative total.

• Huntersville: 14 new cases, 15,065 cumulative total, 89 deaths cumulative total.

Between Dec. 31 of last year and today, the NCDHHS is reporting 14 COVID-related deaths in Huntersville, 2 in Davidson and 2 in Cornelius.
