Jetton Road reopens near new Chase branch

Jetton Road has been reopened at the intersection with West Catawba Avenue after having been closed for six weeks due to an altercation with a dump truck with its bed still up in the air. The truck, which pulled out of the Chase Bank construction site, struck the custom signal arm.

The signal will continue to be functioning on a set or “timed cycle” until the permanent pole is delivered. That means the left-turn arrows will stay illuminated whether or not there is any traffic waiting to turn.

As for getting that traffic signal fully automatic and functional, NCDOT said it will take more time because there are other parts to be ordered and installed.

The intersection is one of the busiest intersections in the town.
