Roadside Leaf Collection Underway

The Town of Cornelius’ annual leaf collection season begins this week and runs through Jan. 29.

Residents are asked to place leaves curbside or along the ditch line, but not in the ditch. Leaves should be arranged in rows parallel to the street.

The town will not collect leaves mixed with tree limbs or other yard waste. Leaves placed in bags or bins also will not be collected.

Residents should keep leaves clear of water meters, fences and storm drains, and avoid blocking sidewalks. Vehicles and other objects should not obstruct access to leaf piles. If collection trucks cannot reach the leaves, they will not be picked up.

There will be no collection on Veterans Day (Nov. 11), Thanksgiving (Nov. 26-27), Christmas (Dec. 23-25) or New Year’s Day (Jan. 1).

Information like routes or neighborhood dates are not provided in advance of collection but residents can track leaf collection trucks in real time through the town’s website.
