Election Day 2026: Get Out and Vote

Published On: November 3, 2026Tags:

Today is Election Day, with four national- and state-level seats up for grabs, three proposed North Carolina constitutional amendments and numerous judicial races on the ballot. In Mecklenburg County, several local races, including sheriff and County Board of Commissioners, are uncontested.

Although Cornelius Town Hall was open to all Mecklenburg County voters during early voting, Election Day polling places are assigned by precinct. Polling locations and sample ballots are available on the North Carolina State Board of Elections website.

Cornelius Today outlined the ballot measures and races yesterday online.

According to data provided by the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections, 16,205 people cast ballots at Cornelius Town Hall during the 17-day early voting period, up from 13,262 during the last midterm election. The polling location is open to any Mecklenburg County voter, regardless of precinct, during early voting.

Our staff will cover state races after polls close and results begin coming in tonight, around 9 p.m. Results will be posted as races are called or candidates concede.
