May 21. Cornelius Police say an 11-year-old on a bicycle sustained only minor scrapes and bruises yesterday after being hit by car on Bailey Road. The student was transported to the hospital as a precaution.

The bicyclist tried to go between vehicles that were stopped in traffic and ran into the side of a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was driving straight when the bicyclist came out from in between the vehicles stopped in another lane and the driver swerved to try and avoid the bicyclist but their vehicle was still struck.

There were no charges due to the bicyclist contributing to the crash by their actions, police said.
