Weekender May 4-7: Celebrate Cinco de Mayo, concerts, Bike Expo and so much more

Friday, May 5

Live Under the Oaks Concert

6-8 pm | May 5. Stormin’ Norman. No coolers are allowed. The Plaza, Birkdale Village, Huntersville.

Cinco de Mayo Block Party

3pm – midnight | May 5. Festivities will include live bands on the outdoor patio, food trucks, vendors, DJ, games, give-a-ways and plenty of festive fun for the family. Old Town Public House and Things Cocktail Bar, Catawba Avenue social district.

Shredding Event

9 am – noon | May 6.  Bring all personal and confidential records that you would like to have destroyed (three-box maximum). Paper should be free of random objects and trash, but paper clips are permitted. Veterans Park, 201 Huntersville-Concord Rd., Huntersville.

Kentucky Derby party and fashion show

5:30-8 pm| May 6. $30-$350. 5:30 to 6:30 pm cocktail hour, vendor visits, tastings, photos, wagers; 6:30 pm wagers to be completed; 7 pm race horse winner and best dressed to be announced; 7:15 pm fashion show. Historic Rural Hill 4431 Neck Rd., Huntersville.

Davidson’s annual Town Day

10 am – 3 pm | May 6. The town leaders encourage residents to walk or ride a bike to the green; there will be police officers stationed at key intersections to ensure everyone’s safety. Activities, fellowship and a time to support our local non-profits. Downtown Davidson.

Carolina Bark Fest

11 am – 3 pm | May 6. Dog products and service vendors, pet friendly event, food, drinks. LangTree Lake Norman 401 Langree Rd., Mooresville.

Concerts @ the Circles

5-9 pm | May 6. Acoustic artist, then Gump Fiction, a 90’s Tribute Band, at 7 pm. Jetton Street by Clean Juice, Davidson.

Ghost Hunt

6:30 – 9:30 pm | First Saturday monthly. Take part in an authentic ghost hunt of the Hugh Torance House and Store and grounds (weather permitting) using investigative tools led by members of the Charlotte Area Paranormal Society. Rig Night at Harp & Crown

Lake Norman Bike Expo

9 am – noon | May 7. Join the Cornelius Parks & Recreation Department and the Town of Davidson Parks & Recreation Department for this annual event to celebrate National Bike Month.The expo features bike demos from area bike shops, educational opportunities regarding bike safety and maintenance, a community and family bike ride, and information about the best places to ride your bike in the Lake Norman/North Mecklenburg region. Hello Huntersville

Noon – 6 pm | May 7. Art and music festival that highlights local/regional area artist and musicians.
