Weekend weather: Much colder and sunny, spring returns next week

Feb. 17. Spring. Winter. Spring. Repeat. That seems to be the way it will go, weather-wise, for the time being. Low 70s and upper 60s are giving way to much cooler temps later today—dropping down to 52 by 5 pm. Saturday’s high is only going to be 53, according to the National Weather Service; Sunday, 57. But get ready for Wednesday and Thursday next week—temps back into the 70s.

Friday: Showers mainly before noon. Temps falling to around 52 by 5 pm. Overnight low could drop to 29.

Saturday: Sunny, high near 53. Overnight low around 36.

Sunday: Mostly sunny and breezy, high near 57. Light south southwest wind increasing to 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Overnight low around 45.

Washington’s Birthday: Mostly sunny, high near 66. Overnight low around 43.

Tuesday: 30 percent chance of showers after 4 pm, high near 66. Warmer evenings again: Low around 51.

Wednesday: Partly sunny, high near 72. Overnight low around 58.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, high near 78.
