March 17. Grammy-nominated violinist Robert McDuffie will perform at 7 p.m. April 13 at the Duke Family Performance Hall at Davidson College. “An Evening with Robert McDuffie and Friends” will benefit Classical Public Radio 89.9 WDAV and Davidson College, where McDuffie’s son attends school.
McDuffie will be accompanied by pianist Elizabeth Pridgen as well as an ensemble comprised of his students from Mercer University. Fred Child, host of the national radio program “Performance Today,” will serve as emcee. The concert is preceded by a ticketed reception featuring complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.
McDuffie is one of the world’s most sought-after violinists, performing with orchestras around the globe. He is the founder of both the Rome Chamber Music Festival in Italy and the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings at Mercer University in his native city of Macon, Ga.
“We’re thrilled that Robert is lending his talent to support classical public radio and Davidson College,” said Frank Dominguez, WDAV’s general manager and content director. “A concert such as this–one featuring a globally recognized artist–speaks to WDAV’s mission to connect our listeners to the music community locally, nationally, and internationally, and also to the excellence of the education young people get at Davidson College.”
Sponsors for the concert include Quo Vadis, Matrix Wealth Advisors, Elaine Freeman, and Lake Norman Realty.
Tickets for the concert are available through the Davidson College Ticket Office at 704-894-2135. For more information, visit wdav.org/mcduffieconcert.
