May 15. By Dave Vieser. The Cornelius Town Board will continue their discussion of the town’s fiscal status during their virtual meeting via Zoom Monday May 18 starting at 7 pm.
Access the Zoom link for the meeting is via the town web site: www.cornelius.org. In addition to planning for the new annual budget, which will be submitted on June 1, the town is also struggling to fill a $1.6 million shortfall created by the effects of the pandemic.
The shortfall is largely the product of a loss in revenue caused a precipitous drop in sales tax and other tax collections as well as fees from PARC programs.
Though the meeting will not be open to the public, residents can submit comments via email.
Comments, no longer than three minutes in length, should be emailed to TownofCornelius@cornelius.org with name and address. Comments will be read into the record upon receipt.
Anonymous comments will not be accepted. Comments should be directed to the entire board as a whole and not individuals.
Any information displayed by request must be submitted to the Town Clerk at least 48 hours prior to the meeting.
