July 25. By Dave Vieser. If all goes well, Royal Bliss Brewery will be opening a new location in Cornelius by early 2025. Officials from Royal Bliss, which currently operates a brewery in Denver, unveiled their expansion plans at the town’s July 24 pre-development committee meeting and every member expressed support for the project.

Plans call for construction of a 11,800 square foot building on a vacant 2.98 acre plot owned by Griffin Brothers Acquisitions LLC located behind the Griffin Building on West Catawba. The project would include a full service restaurant as well as a beer garden.

The site is currently zoned village center, but Royal Bliss officials will file for conditional zoning instead.

“This property doesn’t fit into our needs as currently zoned, most specifically due to the Duke Power high tension lines which run overhead,” said Larry Griffin Jr. “Conditional Zoning will permit us to locate our entrance and parking in the desired sections of the site.”

The lot where the Brewery is planned has an assessed tax value of $850,600, according to Mecklenburg County tax records. With the rezoning desired, the application will need to go through the entire public hearing process, including the Planning Board as well as the Board of Commissioners.
