Principal: CES student doing well after mishap

March 24. A third-grade boy who was struck by a vehicle Thursday morning at Cornelius Elementary is doing just fine. Principal Jessica Holbrook texted parents yesterday regarding the incident which resulted in the student being taken to the hospital. She said it is school policy that students should not be left unattended at any time, and that if students walk to school, they should be accompanied by an adult. Children should not be dropped off before 8:15 am. The school has “zero students” assigned to walker/no transportation zones, meaning all students are eligible for bus pick-up. Holbrook said the boy was released from the hospital the same day “with no broken bones or internal injuries, just expects to be sore for a bit.”
