Novant, Atrium announce plans to reopen services

April 27. As the nation debates how to get back to work, Novant and Atrium are gearing up to treat patients who do not have the coronavirus.

Carl Armato, president and CEO of Novant Health, said putting off care indefinitely can be deadly. “At the advice of our physicians, and on behalf of our patients who need care, we have thoughtfully decided to resume some of these services,” Armato said.

Novant will resume some non-time sensitive and non-emergent surgeries and procedures beginning Monday, May 4.

Atrium Health expands services the week of April 27. They said social distancing has worked.

“We’re pleased that the stay-at-home policies have been successful in diminishing the impact of COVID-19 locally,” said Scott Rissmiller, MD, chief physician executive at Atrium Health.
