NC ranks 15th by new cases/population

July 17. This map ranks new COVID-19 cases in July as a percent of the state’s total population. The ranking is 1 to 56, including the United States’ territories and Washington, D.C. As the cases to population increase, the state or territory gains a higher rank. Arizona has the highest number of new cases in July, according to Johns Hopkins University, with approximately 76 new cases in July per 10,000 people. North Carolina ranks 15th with approximately 27 new cases per 10,000 people.

Mecklenburg County has a higher count with approximately 47 new cases per 10,000 people in July.
