Mooresville Main Street Champion

March 19. Long-time volunteer Hugh Sykes, the treasurer of the Mooresville Downtown Commission, has been named Downtown Mooresville’s 2020 Main Street Champion.

A former business owner, Sykes has been a board member for more than a dozen years, managing the Downtown Mooresville Cruise-In event for many years which regularly attracted as many as 600 classic cars and spectators to the heart of Mooresville.

He was recognized during a ceremony held by the North Carolina Main Street Program which works to stimulate economic development within the context of historic preservation across the state. North Carolina Main Street Champions are individuals awarded annually in recognition for their strong sense of commitment to their respective Downtown communities.
