LangTree Live

6:30-9 pm | May 1. Hey L’80s is an ever-evolving band, focused on bringing the best music from the #newwave era to life! Yom Ha’atzmaut: Israel Independence Day

Choirs: Unrequited Love

7:30 pm | May 1. Freshly adapted for choir, baritone and piano, Franz Schubert’s masterful Winterreise D. 911 Op. 89 recounts the story of a wanderer’s heartbreak and despair as he travels through a frozen world. Mt. Zion’s Fish Fry Fundraiser

11 am – 7:30 pm| May 2. Includes flounder, baked potato, slaw and dessert. Dine in or take out. $15 adults. Kids fish plate $7, kids hot dog, chips and dessert $6; 12 years and younger. Family Life Center, Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 19600 Zion Ave., Cornelius.

Rock the Park

6:30 pm | May 2. The Tams will kick off the season with their legendary beach music classics. With hits like “What Kind of Fool” and “Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy,” this iconic group has been entertaining audiences for decades with their smooth harmonies and infectious rhythms. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Local food vendors will also be on-site offering delicious refreshments. Liberty Park, 255 E. Iredell Ave., Mooresville 28115.

Lovin’ Life Music Festival

See website for schedule | May 2-4. Lovin’ Life Music Festival just released their nearly complete star-studded lineup for their second annual event. Hosted by Southern Entertainment, the festival will showcase more than 50 national, regional, and local artists across multiple stages. Headliners Dave Matthews Band, Gwen Stefani and Benson Boone will be joined by rock legends Weezer, R&B artist Teddy Swims, hip-hop star Ludacris, and alt-rock group The Revivalists. Other featured artists include Flipturn, mike., BigXThaPlug, Lola Young, Gigi Perez, Petey Pablo, Switchfoot, Sammy Rae & The Friends, and The 502s. Saturday, May 3

Cornelius Cardboard Boat Regatta

10:30 am-12:30 pm | May 3. Cornelius Parks and Recreation, Cornelius Police Department and the Joshua Murray Boating Safety Center are organizing the first Cornelius Cardboard Boat Regatta. Registered teams will design and construct their own boats, built primarily of cardboard and duct tape, and race them on Lake Norman. Awards will be given to the winners of the boat race and also in the categories of Best Decorated, Best Sinking, and People’s Choice. Viewing the race is free and open to the public. Community Shred Event

9 am – noon | May 3. Four box limit. The Cornelius Police Department is partnering with Because You Served to host this event.  Town Hall parking lot, 21445 W Catawba Ave., Cornelius.

HEARTS May Day at HTHS

2-5 pm | May 3. Come enjoy spring in nature at our outdoor event featuring 1775 history, nature, fresh flowers, live demonstrations, live music and a community Maypole dance on the grounds of Cedar Grove and the Hugh Torance House and Store. Lake Norman Bike Expo

10 am – noon | May 3. Learn more about area bike and electric-bike shops, nonprofit advocacy groups, Davidson’s Vision Zero efforts, the Town of Cornelius’ Heads Up safety campaign, and local greenways. Bring your bike and join a guided 10-mile community ride at 10:30 am or 2-mile family bike ride at 11 am. Davidson Town Green. Derby Day at Birkdale Village

4 – 7 pm | May 3.  Enjoy an afternoon filled with live music, festive drinks, and photo-worthy moments, all leading up to the most exciting two minutes in sports. Put on your best Derby attire, grab a signature cocktail, and soak in the lively atmosphere as we count down to the Kentucky Derby at 7 pm. The Plaza, Birkdale Village, Huntersville.

Opening Day for Growers’ Market

8 am – noon | May 3. Locally-grown food products. Every Saturday through Aug. 31. Veterans Park,  201 Huntersville-Concord Rd., downtown Huntersville.

Town of Davidson Annual Town Day

10 am – 3 pm | May 3. This year’s event will include family-friendly activities and educational opportunities, live performances on the Davidson Library’s Stage, kid-friendly activities, information booths hosted by local organizations and the town. Town Green, 119 S. Main St., downtown Davidson.

Concerts @ the Circle: The Phoebes – Rock

7-9 pm | May 3. Acoustic artist will perform from 5 – 6:30 pm with the headline artists playing from 7 -9 pm. Jetton Street near Clean Juice, 605 D, Jetton St., Davidson.

Bee Gees Now

Hello Huntersville Music & Arts Festival

1-6 pm | May 4. Local food trucks, beverage vendors, unique art and craft vendors, art stations, whimsical characters and more. Bring your lawn chair and/or blanket to enjoy performances on the IceHouse Stage. Parking for the event will be located at the Town Center Parking Garage, South Main St Parking lot, Arts & Cultural Center Parking lot, Holbrook Park, Downtown Greenway parking lot. Battle of the Bands

Mother’s Day MEGA Market

The Bridal Collective

The Adventures of Avery and Masa

Davidson College Symphony Orchestra: Conductor’s Concert

Thursday, May 8

Volunteer Fair

1-5 pm. Up to 20 local non-profit organizations will share information and offer opportunities to serve for all ages. Learn more about the need in our community and the organizations on the front lines. The Peninsula Community Foundation is sponsoring the Volunteer Fair to help foster connections between its donors and the charities it supports. Lights, Camera, Birkdale

7:30 pm | May 10. Harry Potter & The Sorcerer’s Stone. Seating is first come, first serve. Attendees are encouraged to bring additional blankets and chairs. No outside food or beverage is permitted, but takeout from onsite restaurants is encouraged. Coolers are prohibited. Events are subject to cancellation pending weather conditions. Wine on The Vine

Charlotte Asian Festival and Charlotte Dragon Boat Festival

7:30 am- 5 pm | May 17. Celebrate the culture, traditions and history of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Celebrate their heritage through many activities such as dancing, traditional meals, Dragon Boat Festival Race, observing and appreciating their rich history. Public parking is not available at Ramsey Creek Park, but free parking and shuttle service are available starting at 9 am and run throughout the festival. Cornelius Fishing Derby

Music at St. Alban’s

3 pm | May 18. Mallarmé Music, a Durham-based ensemble, as they celebrate the collaborative spirit of chamber music in an inspirational performance titled “Bach to Beatles to Bluegrass.” Follow the history of the music for strings starting with works by J.S. Bach through traditional bluegrass arranged for quartet by Mark O’Connor. The concert will be preceded by a young artists’ performance at 2:20 p.m., featuring twins Soren Allen, cello and Lena Allen, violin. The concert will be available via live streaming. Armour After Dark: Now Are the Foxes Improv

7:30 pm | May 20. An unscripted, highly energetic, audience interactive comedy experience performed by Now Are the Foxes, a theatrical improv team that takes your idea and turn it into a night of unpredictable storylines and uncontrollable laughter for you and your friends. $20. A Hero’s Homecoming featuring Tim Dugger

A Hero’s Homecoming is a celebration uniting a deserving veteran with their newly certified service canine in addition to a comedy show featuring a special guest comedian you won’t want to miss and music by singer/songwriter, Tim Dugger. HEARTS Let Freedom Spring

2 pm | May 24. Featuring Scott Syfert and David Fleming on land once part of Alexandriana, the massive plantation estate of John McKnitt Alexander. Presented at Pioneer Springs Community School, the program features the historic Freedom Spring, where a group of Princeton scholars met to discuss freedom from British Rule, prompting the creation of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence on May 20, 1775.
