Upcoming Events: May 26 – June 4

The community will gather at the Cornelius Veterans Monument at Rotary Plaza on Monday for a Memorial Day celebration hosted by American Legion Post 86. The monument lists more than 1,100 names of veterans who are or were Cornelius residents. Click here for a story about last year’s Veteran’s Day celebration.
Friday, May 26
Local improvisation and sketch comedy company Now Are the Foxes will perform. 8 p.m. May 26-27 at The Warehouse Performing Arts Center in Cornelius.
Saturday, May 27
Local produce, baked goods and the Downtown Market Event Series. 8 a.m.-noon Saturdays at Huntersville Elementary School.
Camo Up for Vets 5K
8 a.m. at Richard’s Coffee Shop and Welcome Home Veterans Museum in Mooresville.
Free admission and parking. 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Donna Downey Studios in Huntersville.
Leisurely guided bike ride to explore a variety of trees in downtown, along the greenway and in nearby neighborhoods. Ages 13 and up; children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration required. 10 a.m.-noon at Davidson Parks and Recreation Department.
Live music by Steve Brown and the Shana Blake Band plus food trucks, craft beer and family fun. 5-10 p.m. at D9 Brewing Company in Cornelius.
Bluegrass quartet The Churchmen will perform. Free; an offering will be received. 6 p.m. at Living Word Ministries in Lowesville.

Talons Summer Flight Show
Trainers put our native and exotic birds through their paces and discuss the natural history, habitat and behaviors of birds of prey. 1:30 p.m. at the Carolina Raptor Center in Huntersville.
Monday, May 29
Hosted by American Legion Post 86. 10 a.m. at Cornelius Town Hall.
Join the Town of Huntersville for its annual ceremony honoring troops for their service to our country. 11 a.m. at Birkdale Village in Huntersville.
The Mitchell Concert Band will present its annual Memorial Day concert. Bring lawn chairs and picnic baskets. 6 p.m. at Mitchell Community College.
Tuesday, May 30

Wednesday, May 31
Story time with live music to complement the book of the day. 10 a.m. at Main Street Books in Davidson.
Thursday, June 1
Adams and staff will meet monthly with constituents. Noon-2 p.m. at Davidson Town Hall.

Free live weekly concerts all spring and summer! This week, The Colby Dobbs Band will perform. 5-9 p.m. at LangTree Lake Norman in Mooresville.
Concert and Car Show
Central Piedmont Community Chorus is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a concert called “You Must Remember This” and a classic car show featuring Mustangs and Corvettes. 7:30 p.m. June 1-2 at The Cove Church in Mooresville.

Lake Norman Hospice Regatta
Proceeds go to Hospice and Palliative Care Lake Norman. June 2-4 at the Lake Norman Yacht Club in Mooresville.
Sunset and Sandals Fundraiser
The Lake Norman Community Health Clinic will hold its third annual beach-themed fundraiser featuring dinner, live music and a silent auction. 6:30-10:30 p.m. at Peninsula Yacht Club in Cornelius.
Concert Series
Mingling on the Greens series is held 7-9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 4-6 p.m. Sundays at Birkdale Village in Huntersville.
Music on Main
Trial by Fire will perform at 6:30 p.m. at Mooresville Town Hall.

LobsterFest

Free, foot-stomping bluegrass for the entire family. Donations accepted to help with expenses. 7 p.m.at Shearer Presbyterian Church in Mooresville.
Amateur and professional storytellers will share stories on the theme “Binaries.” 8 p.m. at Main Street Books in Davidson.
Movies under the stars on the town’s inflatable screen. “The Secret Life of Pets” will be shown at 8:30 p.m. at Smithville Park in Cornelius. Series continues July 8.
Sunday, June 4
Join the Lake Norman community to pound out pediatric cancer! Food trucks, beer, games, more. Proceeds go to the Pounding for Parker Foundation. 5-8 p.m. at Kadi Fit in Cornelius.
Kids in America will perform at 6 p.m. on the Davidson Town Green.
Thursday, June 8
Local government representatives, business people and others will duel for tips at the ​Eighth Annual Celebrity Bartending event for Big Day at the Lake Thursday June ​8​ at Alton’s Kitchen & Cocktails. All tips go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Charlotte.
