Local nonprofit installs Little Free Pantry

Aug. 20. The Ausie Rivens Community Center/ Scholarship Foundation has installed a Little Free Pantry at 20805 Catawba Ave.

The Little Free Pantry is a national grassroots movement created to address the local need for food.

According to the Brookings Institution, food insecurity has increased in the US since the onset of the new coronavirus pandemic.

Brookings research also shows that “almost one in five households with mothers with children age 12 and younger are experiencing food insecurity.”

Rivens’ Little Free Pantry was created to provide quick and easy access for people in need.

The Little Free Pantry encourages neighbors to help neighbors by ‘taking what you need and leaving what you can.’

Donations are welcome.
