Last week of Early Voting under way at Town Hall, 6 other locations

Oct. 25. As the last full week of Early Voting gets under way at seven Mecklenburg locations, Cornelius Town Hall is tops in votes cast county-wide.

Early voting began Oct. 18 at the Mecklenburg Board of Elections office.

As of Sunday afternoon, a total of 560 people had cast their ballots at Town Hall, with the Davidson Public Library running second in terms of total voters, with 517.

It doesn’t necessarily mean that more Cornelius voters came out—any county voter can vote at any one of seven Early Voting sites.

Early voting opens at 10 am and closes at 7 pm today through Friday of this week.

All five Cornelius Town Commissioner seats are up for grabs, with nine candidates, five of them incumbents. Mayor Woody Washam is running unopposed.

Election Day is Nov. 2; you must vote at your home precinct. There are four polling places: Community in Church Lutheran Church, 7621 Norman Island Drive; Jetton Park, 19000 Jetton Road; Bethel Presbyterian Church, 19920 Bethel Church Road, and Cornelius Town Hall.
