Oct. 10. The deadline to RSVP for the Newsmakers Breakfast featuring the Republican and Democratic candidates for NC House District 98, Melinda Bales and Beth Helfrich, is 1 pm today.
The open-forum Q&A with local people who make the news is strictly non-partisan. Anyone in the audience can ask a question of both candidates. There will not be cheering or booing.
Bales
Bales has lived in Huntersville for 24 years and has 12 years of combined experience on the Huntersville Town Board and as mayor. The 54-year-old and her husband John have two children ages 21 and 23.
Helfrich
Helfrich is a third-generation Davidson resident and graduate of Davidson College. She supports fully funding public education and expanding support for early childhood education. The 43-year-old and husband Tim have five children, ages 3-15.
Event details
Doors open at 7:15 a.m. for networking. The buffet-style breakfast gets under way at 7:30 a.m.
The Q&A begins at 8 a.m. and concludes promptly at 9.
The cost to attend is $16, which includes a full country breakfast at The Peninsula Club.
