Kachin faith holds national conference in Cornelius

April 21. By Dave Yochum. Kachin, the northernmost state of Myanmar, is home to a variety of religious and ethnic populations, including Baptists, some of whom have immigrated to North Carolina.

The Kachin Baptist Churches in the USA (KBC USA) held their annual meeting at First Baptist Church of Cornelius April 7-10.

Sixty representatives from 21 churches across the United States came to discuss administrative, budget and other denominational concerns.

The North Carolina Kachin Baptist Church has been worshipping at First Baptist since October 2016.

Rev. Bawm Sau is one of the leaders of the church. He attended Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he is currently working toward his Doctorate of Ministry.

Members of his church travel from as far away as Durham and Greenville to attend Sunday service in Cornelius.

Rev. David Judge is pastor of First Baptist which also hosts the ReVive Iglesia Cristiana church.
