International organist performs Jan. 13

Noted concert organist Jonathan Dimmock comes to Lake Norman for the Organ at Davidson concert at Davidson College Presbyterian Church Jan. 13. Dimmock is principal organist at the Legion of Honor Museum, as well as organist for the San Francisco Symphony.

His sister is Jane Cain, director of music at Davidson College Presbyterian Church.

Dimmock is the only American to serve as organ scholar at Westminster Abbey under Simon Preston. He has also served as organist at the Cathedral of St.John the Divine in New York City

As founder of The Resonance Project—which uses live music to  transform conflict and find common ground—he has interviewed some of the greatest musicians in the world, attracting the attention of the United Nations, the U.S. Dept. of State, and President Obama.

The program at Davidson College Jan. 13 at 7:30 pm will include music by American composers, some of which he commissioned or arranged, as well as a brother-sister organ duet featuring Jonathan and Jane.

The concert is free and followed by a meet-the-artist reception. Donations are gratefully received to further the series. For the rest of the concerts in the series, go to www.dcpc.org.
