Huntersville mayor announces plans to run for NC House District 98

April 21. Huntersville Mayor Melinda Bales will run for NC District 98 in the House Representatives, a seat currently held by John Bradford, a Cornelius resident.

Bradford announced this week he will run for NC state treasurer.

Bales had planned to run for reelection, but decided after Bradford’s announcement “that she is uniquely qualified” to fill the seat representing North Meck in the State House.

The 24-year Huntersville resident has 12 years of combined experience on the Huntersville Board of Commissioners and as Mayor,

“Serving Huntersville, first as a town commissioner and now as mayor, has been the honor of my life,” said Bales. “I feel like it has absolutely prepared me to tackle the issues of education, transportation and economic development in our community, and so much of that is decided in Raleigh.”
