Huntersville Downtown Plan volunteer opportunities

June 16. The Huntersville Board of Commissioners has authorized the development of a Downtown Plan and a Steering Committee will be appointed this summer  to serve for nine to 12  months to work with town staff and consultants.

 The Downtown Plan Steering Committee include 11-15 Huntersville stakeholders, representing Downtown interests, neighborhoods near the Downtown and the community at large. 

The Downtown Plan will be guided by a Town Board-approved scope of services and budget that will govern the project. Town Planning staff will administer the consultant contract and provide support to the Steering Committee. The Downtown Plan effort will follow the 2006 Downtown Plan and the 2040 Community Plan. 

Steering Committee members will be required to attend six to eight meetings during Fall 2021 – Summer 2022, review the Downtown Plan’s progress and content, and be asked to help encourage community participation during the entire project.
