It’s Bulldog by a nose

Dec. 18. North Carolina’s favorite breed is the Bulldog, while German shepherds are the No. 1 pooch in 16 states, according to a new survey of 10,000 dog owners conducted by Forbes Advisors.

Approximately two-thirds of U.S. households own a dog.

More doggy data:

—85 percent of dog owners consider their pets a part of their family.

—13 percent of respondents reported that “no breed in particular” is their favorite.

—Across all 50 states, Australian shepherds ranked as the top favorite dog breed

The Havanese, the only dog breed native to Cuba (according to the AKC), was the least favored breed in 33 of 50 states. Forbes Advisors says America’s second least-favored dog breed was the German shorthaired pointer followed by the Welsh corgi.
