Hough Spring Sports: Week Eight

Boys lacrosse: Hough posted back-to-back wins this week over South Mecklenburg and Myers Park by scores of 10-6 and 16-5, respectively. The Huskies are riding a five game win streak with senior night up next and an away matchup against rival Lake Norman.
Baseball: The Huskies split recent games, defeating Hopewell 8-7 and Mallard Creek 14-13 while falling to Myers Park. They have one regular-season game remaining against Hopewell. At 14-7 overall and 6-3 in conference play, the Huskies sit third in the Greater Charlotte 7A/8A Conference.
Boys Tennis: The Huskies defeated Hopewell 8-1 on senior day. Seniors Daniel Ben-Yohanan and Miles Raymond each won their singles matches and teamed to win in doubles. Results from the conference tournament were not immediately available.
Boys Volleyball: The Huskies went 3-1 over their last four matches, defeating East Lincoln 3-0, Marvin Ridge 3-2 and East Mecklenburg 3-0, and losing to West Forsyth 3-1. They have three matches remaining, including a rematch with West Forsyth and the regular-season finale against South Iredell.
Girls Flag Football: The Huskies lost their only game of the week, falling to Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology 6-0. They have three games remaining in the regular season.
Girls Soccer: The Huskies won both matches, defeating Hopewell 2-0 and West Mecklenburg 12-0. In the win over West Mecklenburg, 12 different players scored. The Huskies remain atop the Greater Charlotte 7A/8A Conference standings and are ranked No. 7 in the state by MaxPreps.
Softball: The Huskies won both games, beating South Mecklenburg 13-1 and Myers Park 14-4. Senior Payton Elwell had three hits and two RBIs against South Mecklenburg and added four RBIs against Myers Park. The Huskies have two games remaining and hold a 9-0 conference record, leading the Greater Charlotte 7A/8A Conference.
Girls lacrosse: The Huskies dropped games this week against South Mecklenburg 16-5 and Myers Park 18-9. The team holds a 5-4 record with two games remaining in the regular season.
