HAND SANITIZER SOLD OUT AT PUBLIX IN CORNELIUS
March 4. Growing fears about the coronavirus are causing shortages of hand sanitizers: Both Harris Teeter on Old Jetton and the Publix store on West Catawba were sold out Wednesday afternoon.
There’s a nationwide shortage, creating a cottage industry for resellers of Purel. In some cases, shady individuals are selling cases of Purell for hundreds of dollars.
Amazon said there is no place for price gouging on their platform. ”We are disappointed that bad actors are attempting to artificially raise prices on basic need products during a global health crisis,” a spokeswoman said.
Here’s what you need to make your own sanitizer:
2/3 cup rubbing alcohol
1/3 cup aloe vera gel
Essential oil optional, up to you
How to make it:
In a mixing bowl, thoroughly blend alcohol and aloe vera gel
Add several drops of scented essential oil (optional) and stir
Use empty containers you already have as dispensers
The CDC recommends hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content. You can go stronger by adding a little more rubbing alcohol. Some people substitute witch hazel for isopropyl rubbing alcohol.
