June 18. More than 100 girls in the Team First Soccer program got a big treat today at Bailey Road Park when Olympic Gold Medal winner Mia Hamm showed up to coach. Girls between the ages of 8-12 who took Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Live Fearless pledge got private coaching sessions with Hamm as well as soccer superstars Kristine Lilly and Tisha Venturini Hoch. The girls worked on technical skills, learned about healthy training and nutrition, and got player autographs “during this experience of a lifetime,” a Blue Cross press release said. Hamm played in four World Cups and three Olympics during a 17-year career with the U.S. Women’s National Team.
