HOLSTON OFFICE CLOSED IN HUNTERSVILLE
April 23. Three dozen former Holston Medical Group (HMG) physicians are joining Atrium Health with newly formed practices called One Health Family Medicine and One Health OB/GYN. In a press release, Atrium said 17 more former HMG providers will also affiliate with the non-profit healthcare giant.
In the midst of the ongoing pandemic and state of emergency, HMG closed 10 out of 13 locations in Lake Norman, leaving an estimated 70,000 patients without direct access to primary or OB/GYN care.
Most of the former HMG physicians have joined Atrium Health and will begin providing care to patients in the “near future,” Atrium said in the release.
“On behalf of former-HMG physicians who are now part of Atrium Health, this is a win-win for our patients,” said David Cook, MD, Atrium Health, and Ehab Sharawy, MD, Atrium Health, in a joint statement. They said Holston patients will gain access to advanced specialty care and innovative treatments at Atrium Health. 
Cook and Sharawy helped lead the departure of doctors from Novant a year ago for Holston Medical. After the relationship with Holston fell apart last year, the two formed a corporation called OH Leadership in December.
Holston’s ex-patients are asked to visit www.AtriumHealth.org/Welcome to provide their information. Atrium Heath will then contact the patient and work with them to handle all their needs, including scheduling any necessary appointments.
Novant and Piedmont HealthCare as well as Davidson Family Medicine said they are also accepting Holston patients.
