The classic Christmas play “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” opens at Davidson’s Armour Street Theatre Thursday as Christmas in Davidson gets under way. The North Mecklenburg Christmas parade Saturday starts in Davidson and makes its way into Cornelius via Main Street. Don’t miss marching bands, horses, floats and sweet, home-town fun. And be sure to visit downtown Cornelius Sunday for live bands, Christmas carols, food trucks and craft beer.
Thursday, Nov. 29
Display of nativities from all over the world, live music, children’s craft room, live nativity, local service opportunities. Nov. 29-Dec. 1 at The Church of Latter-day Saints in Huntersville.
The largest and most popular annual event in Davidson features trolley rides, a live nativity, Christmas shopping, visits with Santa, carolers, more. 6-9 p.m. Nov. 29-Dec. 1 in downtown Davidson.
“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.” The hilarious classic about a church Christmas pageant invaded by the Herdman kids is fun for the whole family. Nov. 29-Dec. 16 at the Armour Street Theatre in Davidson.
Friday, Nov. 30
Bring your letter to Santa and send it on an express journey to the North Pole. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope and Santa will write you back! You can even drop off after regular business hours at our outdoor mail intake. Nov. 26-Dec. 14 at the Cornelius Arts Center.
Orchestrated light show with more than 150,000 lights set to music. Free. Nightly through late December at Mooresville Town Hall.
Tree Lighting
Visit with Santa and welcome the Christmas season as we light the town tree. 6-9 p.m. in downtown Huntersville.
Saturday, Dec. 1
North Mecklenburg Christmas Parade
The Towns of Davidson and Cornelius proudly present the 36th Annual North Mecklenburg Christmas Parade with marching bands, horses, tractors, school groups, civic organizations, more. Parade starts at 1 p.m at the intersection of Griffith St. and N.C. 115 in Davidson.
A Huntersville Christmas
Vendors, rides, photos with Santa, more. 2-8 p.m. in downtown Huntersville.
Christmas Tours by Candlelight
Christmas-themed tour of the plantation house by candlelight, hot cider and cookies by the fire in the plantation kitchen. Pre-registration required. 6, 7 and 8 p.m. Dec. 1 and 8 at Historic Latta Plantation in Huntersville.
Christmas Flotilla and Parade
Bring blankets and find the perfect spot along the lakeside route to enjoy a spectacular display of lighted boats. 6-11 p.m. at the Lake Norman Yacht Club in Mooresville.
Sunday, Dec. 2
Christmas in Cornelius
Live bands, Christmas carols, food trucks, craft beer, kids’ activities, craft market and Santa! Noon-6 p.m. at Oak Street Mill in Cornelius.
The Peninsula Community Foundation will host the Holly Walk, a tour of five homes decorated for the holidays. Proceeds will go to the foundation, which supports Lake Norman charities and the communities they serve. 2-7 p.m. starting at Peninsula Yacht Club in Cornelius.
The children’s choir will present “Rockin’ Royal Christmas.” 5 p.m. at Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Cornelius.
Service of decorating the church for Advent will include music by the church music ministries and congregational carol singing. 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Mooresville.
Annual vespers service of lessons and carols features beautiful choral and handbell music, scripture readings, candlelight and special guests the Davidson Pro-Arte Brass Ensemble. 7:30 p.m. at Davidson College Presbyterian Church. Prelude at 7 p.m.
Monday, Dec. 3
Holiday Paint Party
Instructor will demonstrate a variety of techniques to create a cute and fun holiday painting. Ages 6-10. Register by Nov. 30. 5-6:30 p.m. at the Cornelius Arts Center.
The Davidson College choirs and more than 300 community members, along with the North Carolina Baroque Orchestra, will perform Handel’s “Messiah.” Singers, please bring your own scores. 7-9 p.m. at Davidson College Presbyterian Church.
Tuesday, Dec. 4
The track at Bailey Road Park in Cornelius will be open and lighted for public use 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through February 2019.
Free play-reading series features “Three Tall Women” by Edward Albee. 7 p.m. at The Warehouse Performing Arts Center in Cornelius. Series continues Dec. 12.
Wednesday, Dec. 5
Learn fun ideas and activities you can use to support early literacy at home in this first of two workshop sessions. Registration required. 10-11 a.m. at the Cornelius Branch Library.
Learn all about gingerbread and make a gingerbread-inspired house from graham crackers. 2-3 p.m. at the Cornelius Branch Library.
Thursday, Dec. 6
Learn about early American Christmas traditions, smell Christmas open-hearth Christmas baking, make a craft and visit the farm animals. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Historic Latta Plantation in Huntersville.
Practice your English speaking and listening skills in a relaxed environment. 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Cornelius Branch Library.
The North Mecklenburg Community Chorus will present ”Sing We Now of Christmas.” 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at Huntersville United Methodist Church and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 13 at Community in Christ Lutheran Church in Cornelius.
Friday, Dec. 7
Photos, holiday crafts, cocoa and cookies. Free, drop-in event. 10 a.m.-noon at the Cornelius Arts Center.
Artist Paul Farmer will give a talk about his exhibition, “Un-Cover, Re-Cover.” Light refreshments served. 6:30-9 p.m. at the Cornelius Arts Center.
Saturday, Dec. 8
Join Santa and festive holiday jesters for a hot buffet breakfast. Santa will visit each table, so bring your camera. All proceeds benefit Our Towns Habitat for Humanity. 8:30 and 9:45 a.m. at Red Rocks Cafe in Huntersville.
The Hough High School Show Choir will perform. 9-11 a.m. at Lake Norman YMCA in Cornelius.
A doctor gives a brief presentation on a health topic and then leads participants on a walk. Healthy snacks, coffee, water, and blood pressure checks are offered free of charge. 9-10 a.m. at the Davidson Town Green.
Theatrical reading of the children’s classic “A Visit From Saint Nicholas” with special guests Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Attendance limited to the first 20 children and their caregivers. 10 a.m. at the Cornelius Branch Library.

Catered dinner and holiday concert by the Lake Norman Orchestra, live and silent auction, raffle. Proceeds will go toward student scholarships, music scores, equipment and other expenses for the volunteer orchestra. 4:30-8:30 p.m. at Langtree Plantation in Mooresville.
