The Big Day at the Lake Beach Bash tonight at the Peninsula Yacht Club benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolinas. Lots of food, games and a live auction! Registration opens Monday for the first summer session of classes at the Cornelius Arts Center beginning June 3. And summer is on its way: The first Concert on the Green in Davidson is Sunday.

Sarah Ruhl reimagines the classic myth of Orpheus through the eyes of its heroine. Dying too young on her wedding day, Eurydice must journey to the underworld, where she reunites with her father and struggles to remember her lost love. With contemporary characters, ingenious plot twists, and breathtaking visual effects, the play is a fresh look at a timeless love story. April 18-May 4 at The Warehouse Performing Arts Center in Cornelius.

Bright Ideas

Our first juried exhibition will be on display April 26-June 21 at the Cornelius Arts Center.

Junie B. Jones The Musical

With a new kid at school, a kickball tournament, and a teacher called Mr. Scary, first grade has never been more exciting. Presented by Davidson Community Players’ Connie Company. April 26-May 5 at the Armour Street Theatre in Davidson.

Food Truck Jam

Family- and pet- friendly gathering with live entertainment, food trucks and more! 5-10 p.m. at the Beaver Dam Historical Home and Grounds in Davidson.

Standup Comedy

The First Friday Funnies returns with performances by The SuperJoy Comedy Show and other local comics. 8-10 p.m. at Brick Row in Cornelius.

Saturday, May 4

Wildlife Photography Workshop

Learn wildlife photography techniques and photograph some of the resident raptors. 8 a.m.-4 p.m. May 4-5 at the Carolina Raptor Center in Huntersville.

Town Day

We encourage all citizens to walk or ride a bike to the green for a community festival. 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on the Davidson Town Green.

Sunday, May 5

Hello Huntersville

Join us for the town’s annual music and arts festival. The event will also feature the grand opening of the renovated old town jail. 2-6 p.m. at Huntersville Parks and Recreation.

Sacred Music Concert

The music ministry will present “Praise Him With Instruments,” an evening of music by the church’s handbell, choir chimes, student sign language and orchestra ensembles. 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Mooresville.

Concert on the Green

Kids in America will perform. 6-8 p.m. on the Davidson Town Green.

Brazilian Jazz Concert

Andrew Finn Magill will perform “Canta, Violino!” 7 p.m. at The Warehouse Performing Arts Center in Cornelius.
