Elsa not a threat here, but storms likely tomorrow, Thursday

July 6. Tropical Storm Elsa—it could become a hurricane later today—will bring rain to the eastern half of the Carolinas later on Wednesday and Thursday, but Charlotte will miss the brunt of the storm. Look for run-of-the-mill thunderstorms and showers in Lake Norman Wednesday and Thursday, with humidity sticking around.

Gov. Roy Cooper and state emergency management officials are telling residents in eastern and central North Carolina to be prepared for significant rains and possible flooding.

Post-Elsa, high pressure and humidity could spawn showers and thunderstorms here in the afternoon and evening. Check out the National Weather Service forecast here.
