March 14. The Davidson Lands Conservancy (DLC), a nationally accredited land trust, is applying for renewal of accreditation.

The land trust accreditation program recognizes land conservation organizations that meet national quality standards for protecting natural places and working lands forever.

The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs, and seeks public comment. DLC’s public comment period is now open.

“DLC is honored to be an accredited land trust—one of only 467 nationwide; there are over 1,000 US land trusts.  Reaccreditation calls us to review our practices and procedures to ensure we continue to meet the commission’s high standards,” said Dave Cable, DLC’s executive director.

The commission invites public input and accepts signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to how Davidson Lands Conservancy complies with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust. For the full list of standards, click here.

To learn more about the accreditation program and to submit a comment, visit www.landtrustaccreditation.org, or email your comment. Comments may also be mailed to the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, Attn: Public Comments, 36 Phila St., Suite 2, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

Comments on Davidson Lands Conservancy’s application will be most useful by Sept. 30.
