Sept. 13. Huntersville American Legion Post 321 will conduct an American Flag dignified disposal ceremony this Friday at 7 p.m.
The ceremony, in the north parking lot at 107 N. Main St. in Huntersville, occurs on National POW/MIA Recognition Day.
“We have intentionally selected this day for our ceremony to help bring attention to the thousands of POW/MIAs still unaccounted for from all wars and conflicts involving the United States, while simultaneously promoting respect of our flag in the local community.”
Do we take our damaged flag to the American Legion Post before Friday or take it to the ceremony on Friday?
Is there any other way to dispose of our flag?
Tom Sullivan, American Legion Post 321, responds: “We have sufficient unserviceable flags for our ceremony this Friday. However, there is a flag box on the south side of the post at 107 N. Main St. where unserviceable American flags may be placed. They will be properly disposed of at future American Legion Post occasions.”
