May 14. It’s official: Former Town Commissioner Dan Boone has officially announced his candidacy for mayor of Huntersville. He served eight years as Town Commissioner, where he was liaison to the police and fire departments, and Huntersville Family Fitness and Aquatics, and represented the town at the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization.

He was also vice chair of both the Huntersville Planning Board and Board of Adjustment.

Boone also ran for mayor in 2023 but ultimately lost to Christy Clark, the current mayor of Huntersville. While the mayor and town board elections in Huntersville are non-partisan, both Boone, a Republican and Clark, a Democrat, are leaders in their respective parties.

“I’m running for mayor because I care deeply about this town,” Boone said. “Huntersville deserves representation that will listen to residents and balance the need for growth with the wishes of the people. I’m ready to serve.”

Boone went on to say he will focus on “delivering real solutions for responsible growth, strong public safety, infrastructure investment, and protection of Huntersville’s character as it continues to grow.”
