Boone, Partee announce plans to run for mayor of Huntersville

June 8. A contest for Huntersville mayor is shaping up this fall after Mayor Melinda Bales announced her intentions to run for NC House of Representatives District 98, which is currently held by John Bradford.

Two sitting commissioners, Dan Boone and Derek Partee, have announced they will run for mayor.

The mayor’s office, like the commissioners, is a two-year term. Bradford, a Cornelius resident, has announced plans to run for NC Treasurer.

Boone, a town commissioner since 2015, said he will continue to advocate for smart and responsible growth that has the support of both Huntersville’s neighbors and residents.

Partee

Partee, who has served on the town board since 2021, said the future to Huntersville is managed grwoth that will have a middle ground to allow infrastructure to meet the demands of development.

There may be more candidates: Filing for all offices on the ballot opens at noon Friday, July 7 and closes at noon Friday, July 21.
