Dec. 7. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services today reported 2,104 new cases of the coronavirus. The positivity rate statewide climbed to 9.1 percent, up from 5.1 percent on Nov. 8

There were 69 new deaths statewide, but none in Mecklenburg County.

Hospitalizations

State health officials said there were 1,376 people hospitalized with COVID statewide, up from 1,307 yesterday and 1,040 on Nov. 8.

Deaths

The NCDHHS today also reported 20 new COVID-related deaths statewide. There were no COVID deaths reported in Mecklenburg.

North Mecklenburg (change from Monday)

• Cornelius: 4 new cases, 4,195 cumulative total, 32 deaths cumulative total.

• Davidson: 5 new cases, 2,448 cumulative total, 19 deaths cumulative total.

• Huntersville: 9 new cases, 9,246 cumulative total, 74 deaths cumulative total.

18,880 people have died of COVID in North Carolina since March 2020, according to state health officials.
