COVID update: Hospitalizations drop again

Oct. 1. Statewide COVID-related hospitalizations were under 3,000 again today, the second day in a row. The NC Dept. of Health & Human services reported 2,882 people hospitalized, down from 2,943 hospitalized due to the coronavirus yesterday.

The number of new cases, however, rose to 4,963 today, from 4,765 new cases yesterday.

The NCDHHS today reported the statewide positivity rate was 7.9 percent, slightly higher than yesterday (7.7 percent).

Deaths

There were 81 new deaths statewide due to COVID-19, for a total of 16,605 since March of last year. Four of the deaths were in Mecklenburg County, none of them in North Meck.

Mecklenburg

In Mecklenburg County, there were 355 new cases from Thursday’s report.

North Mecklenburg (change from Thursday)

Cornelius: 13 new cases, 3,871 cumulative total, 29 deaths cumulative total.

Davidson: 5 new cases, 2,222 cumulative total, 17 deaths cumulative total.

Huntersville: 18 new cases, 8,396 cumulative total, 67 deaths cumulative total.
