Dec. 22. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services reported 4,889 new cases of the coronavirus statewide and a positivity rate of 10.4 percent statewide. In Mecklenburg County the COVID positivity rate is 8.4 percent.

Hospitalizations

The NCDHHS reported 1,680 hospitalizations statewide due to the coronavirus.

Deaths

There were 50 new COVID deaths in North Carolina; four were in Mecklenburg County, according to today’s report.

Mecklenburg

There were 599 new cases reported county-wide from Tuesday to today.

North Mecklenburg (change from Tuesday)

• Cornelius: 17 new cases, 4,341 cumulative total, 32 deaths cumulative total.

• Davidson: 7 new cases, 2,535 cumulative total, 19 deaths cumulative total.

• Huntersville: 30 new cases, 9,605 cumulative total, 74 deaths cumulative total.

On Dec. 22 2020 there were 5,255 new cases and 3,001 people hospitalized in North Carolina due to the coronavirus.
