COVID-19 update May 28

May 28. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services today reported 738 new cases of the coronavirus statewide, with hospitalizations under 700 for the fifth day in a row. More good news: No COVID-19 deaths in Mecklenburg County for the third day in a row.

The statewide positive test rate is at 3.1 percent—well below the NCDHHS goal of 5 percent for two weeks’ running.

Statewide, there were 694 people hospitalized, and 23 new deaths attributable to the coronavirus.

Mecklenburg

60 new cases from Tuesday to today; 0 new deaths

North Mecklenburg (change from Thursday to today)

Cornelius: 0 new cases, 2,862 cumulative (revised down); 25 deaths total.

Davidson: 2 new cases, 1,688 cumulative; 15 deaths total.

Huntersville: 1 new case, 6,003 cumulative; 53 deaths total.

COVID-19 data will not be updated on Monday, May 31 due to the Memorial Day holiday. The next update will be on Tuesday, June 1.
