NC new cases: Data from Johns Hopkins University

May 20. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services today reported 1,187 new COVID-19 cases statewide, and 12 new deaths—one of them in Huntersville—attributable to the coronavirus. The median of the past seven days of new cases (1,394) statewide is 22.47 percent below the median of the past 31 days (1,798 cases).

Hospitalizations

Statewide, hospitalizations fell to 793 today, down from 820 yesterday. On April 30, there were 1,101 people hospitalized due to COVID-19.

Testing

The statewide positive test rate was at 3.3 percent percent in today’s report. Mecklenburg County is at 4.4 percent.

Mecklenburg

134 new cases from yesterday to today. Three new deaths, for a total of 962 county-wide

North Mecklenburg (change from yesterday to today)

Cornelius: 1 new cases, 2,860 cumulative; 25 deaths total.

Davidson: 2 new cases, 1,681 cumulative; 15 deaths total.

Huntersville: 3 new cases, 5,987 cumulative; 53 deaths total.
