Aug. 12. The NC Dept. of Health and Human Services today reported 5,900 new cases of COVID-19 statewide, and 2,409 related hospitalizations, the highest number since early February.

The NCDHHS today reported 16 new deaths statewide due to the coronavirus

Testing

Positive tests are coming back at the rate of 11.3 percent statewide.

Mecklenburg

In Mecklenburg County, there were 624new cases, and no new deaths, according to NCDHHS. The county-wide positive test rate is 12.3 percent.

North Mecklenburg (change from Wednesday)

Cornelius: 14 new cases, 3,171 total, 26 deaths total.

Davidson: 4 new cases, 1,866 total, 15 deaths total.

Huntersville: 38 new cases, 6,769 cumulative, 54 deaths total.
