Cornelius Police invite comments for CALEA review

July 10. The Cornelius Police Department is scheduled for a virtual on-site assessment Monday, July 13 through Wednesday, July 15, 2020, as part of a program to maintain accreditation by verifying it meets professional standards.

Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: Policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.

As part of the virtual on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments through a public phone-in session on Wednesday, July 15. The session will be conducted through the Cornelius Police Department from 3 pm to 5 pm. The public may call 704-439-2099 to offer comments to the assessment team. All calls are unscreened and unrecorded.

Anyone wishing to submit written comments about the Cornelius Police Department’s ability to comply with the standards for accreditation may send them to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. 13575 Heathcote Blvd., Gainesville Va 20155.
